In today’s guide we will be installing AnyDesk on MX Linux. AnyDesk is a proprietary remote desktop application created by a German’s company, AnyDesk Software GmbH. AnyDesk has been created to provide a platform independent remote access to Desktop devices, personal Laptop computers among other devices running the host application.
With AnyDesk you can get remote control, VPN functionality, file transfer from local to remote machines, Remote printing, among many other cool features. AnyDesk is a cross-platform tool that can be installed on Windows, Linux, Mac OS, FreeBSD, iOS or Android.
In this short article we will walk you through steps of installing AnyDesk on MX Linux. It is assumed you have a running instance on MX Linux Desktop operating system. Our recent article captured all steps of installing MX Linux on a Laptop or home Desktop machine.
Step 1: Update System
I recommend you update all the packages in your system to the latest releases before you install AnyDesk on MX Linux:
sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade sudo apt dist-upgrade
Reboot the system once the update is done
Step 2: Launch MX Package Installer
The MX Linux package installer is an interface that ease the installation of debian packages on the OS. Use your desktop environment search function to locate Package Manager.
Input your user account password when prompted.
Step 3: Install AnyDesk on MX Linux
Once MX Package installer is launched use it to search for “Anydesk” package.
Hit the “Install” link to begin installation of AnyDesk on MX Linux.
When asked if you want to continue with the installation answer “y“.
The installation will finish in a short time. AnyDesk desktop application is then available in your MX Linux Desktop system for use. You can launch it from Desktop Environment or CLI.
Create a new session or connect to remote system with known ID.
