The taskbar is a quite long rectangular bar at the bottom of your computer, that shows recently used apps. You can customize and extend the taskbar anytime you want to. The taskbar is a very important part of your computer as it helps you access some of the frequently used apps on your computer. It could be you are not satisfied with its position or rather it looks to small or much longer than you would like it to be.
Many people are usually not happy with how their windows task bar looks like. And often complain how it ruins their windows PC appearance in general. The good thing is that there are ways you can customize the taskbar to your liking.
Customize and Extend Windows 10 Taskbar
The following are some of the settings you can apply on the taskbar to customize it and leave it looking awesome;
(i) Remove Search Box from the Taskbar
To remove the search box from the taskbar, find an empty space on the taskbar then right click on it. Click the option of search then hit hidden.
To remove the above search box, follow the illustration below;
Note: Click on the Windows start button then start typing the program you want to use and it will appear. Hence no need for the search Box.
(ii) Change the Position of the Taskbar
You can actually change the position of your taskbar, from its location at the bottom to any part on your desktop background. This is done by clicking on an empty space on the taskbar then dragging it to any preferred location on your
NB/ Ensure that the taskbar lock is not enabled. To unlock the taskbar, right click on an empty space of the taskbar then uncheck the lock taskbar option.
Unchecking the highlighted option will allow you to move the taskbar around by dragging it. Also, once you have moved y our taskbar to the desired location ensure that you lock it so that you do not have to deal with accidental movements of it.
(iii) Changing the Size of your Taskbar
At times, you feel that the size of your taskbar is not the way you want it to be. To do this, right click on an empty space on the taskbar, scroll down to taskbar settings and click on it.
Then, ensure that you have disabled the lock taskbar option. This will allow you to pull your taskbar up and down to the size that you want it to be.
(iv) Hide the Taskbar
To make your desktop background much cleaner, at times, you would want to hide the taskbar. Here, go to taskbar settings, then check the box for automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode.
NB/ Doing this will make your taskbar disappear and appear only when you take your cursor to where the taskbar should be.
(V) For Small Taskbar Buttons
On the taskbar settings ensure that you turn on the small taskbar buttons. This will help make your taskbar less full as the icons on it will only take up very small space.
vi) Choose the items that appear on System Tray
The system tray is located at the left side corner of the task bar.
To choose the items that appear here, go to taskbar settings then on the notifications, click on select which icons appear on the taskbar.
From here, you can select that which you want to appear on your system tray. You can also remove the default ones by using turn system icons on or off on the image shown above.
To easily access the taskbar settings, locate an empty space on your task bar, then right click. The last option will be taskbar settings. This is the option that will take you to various options that will enable you to customize your taskbar to the way you want it to look like.
